Sugar Bowl Ski Resort Review

Sugar Bowl Ski Resort Trail Map

Sugar Bowl is a small but mighty mountain. Nestled up on Donor Summit Sugar Bowl receives some of the deepest snowfall in the Sierra’s making this a great destination for powder skiers. You’ll find steep chutes, cornices, and cliffs that advanced and expert skiers coming back time and again. Having a high base elevation is key in Tahoe as we receive warmer storms on the “Pineapple Express”. So if it’s raining at lake level, it’s often snowing top to bottom up at Sugar Bowl. When the colder storms do hit, the higher elevation packs in the deep dry snow making for amazing smiles for everyone. It’s lacking a bit of depth in terrain variety but you’ll find great skiing for all levels.

This is a locals mountain and favorite among “day trippers” coming up from Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area. The vibe is very low key compared to the bustling North Shore resorts like Palisades Tahoe and Northstar and you won’t find a fancy village or attitude.
