Not very practical, but super awesome! Porsche has built one of the most amazing driving and looking sports wagons in the history of the automobile. Ultra lux, ultra fast, grippy around the corners, smooth, sleek, and roomy are the words that come to mind with the Panamera Turismo.
If you’re not going to drive off the main roads, and stick to the plowed paths the Porsche Panamera Turismo will deliver as much or more snow performance than any other vehicle on the market. There are some very practical elements of the Truismo including a huge storage area, and with seats down, enough room to compete with most all mid sized SUV’s on the market.
You get 2 main options depending on how fast over the speed limit you’re looking to press it:
Panamera 4 Sport Turismo – Twin Turbo V-6 Engine with 345 HP – catapulting you 0-60 in 4.8 sec (with sport chrono transmission). Expect to start at $100k, and a good build here will easily run you $120,000
Panamera 4S Sport Turismo – Twin Turbo V-6 engine with 443 HP sending you way back in your seat with 3.9 sec 0-60 (sport chrono transmission). You’ll pony up at least $120,000 and a good build will run you closer to $140,000.

Ground clearance is not great, but still offers 5 in under the vehicle. This is similar to and somewhat better than other sports oriented sedans and wagons in this class.
It’s tempting to gush on and on about how incredible this sports wagon looks, drives, and performs – but hey there are not a lot of people out there who can really afford such a masterpiece. If you’re in this price range you consider the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover, or even BMW M50i xDrive which will all offer more ground clearance. But hey, none of them will scream down the road like the Panamera.
Finally I always like to remind people that these types of sports car driving machines often come with summer tires and or not so great snow tires. Do your homework and ensure you get an amazing tire to perform well up in the snow and ice. Check out TireRack for reviews of the most suitable tires
If you can afford it, get it! And please take me for a ride…
