Best Views of Lake Tahoe

Heavenly Valley is a classic in the Lake Tahoe Region offering sunny days, great views, amazing nightlife, and a massive amount of diverse terrain. Although Heavenly is mostly known for long tree cut intermediate runs, there are some very respectable advanced and expert runs to challenge all skiers. Offering 4,800 acres of skiing makes Heavenly Valley one of the largest ski resorts in North America.
The resort is broken out by “The California Side” and “The Nevada Side” as you can access the mountain from multiple lodges. Skiing on the Nevada side is generally less crowded, offers better snow, as well as the best high altitude bowls and runs. Experts flock to Mott Canyon and Killebrew Canyon… especially on those famous powder days. There are also several nooks and cranny’s to find through the trees and it pays to explore the mountain with a local or perhaps hire a guide.
When it comes to nightlife the town of South Lake Tahoe is quite a stand out… especially for those who love the action of the casino’s. The main gondola rises up from Stateline (CA / NV) which is the main hub of major casino’s, fine dining, brew pubs, hotels, condo’s and shopping. You can take a day off the slopes and explore a wide array of activities including a Lake Tahoe boat cruise, snowmobiling, cross country Skiing, or tubing. The nightlife goes deep into the night at Stateline and it’s not uncommon for skiers to miss the morning ski lifts, and opt to sleep it off back in their hotel.
Although Heavenly and South Lake are known for all night clubs and amazing nightlife, the resort and town is very family friendly. Kids of all ages will love to explore the long and winding tree cut runs, and skiing Heavenly as a kid is one great adventure. You can begin from Stateline and ski all the way over to Stagecoach lodge – then back. Your kids will love the notion of skiing across two states, looking back on Lake Tahoe on the California side and then overlooking desert floor on the Nevada side. There is something magical about the adventure of skiing Heavenly.
