Fernie Ski Resort Review

Fernie Alpine Ski Resort Trail Map

Location, location, location – Yes, perfect powder skiing is all about location, and Fernie is centrally located on the Great Powder Highway! This location is far from airports, and big cities making this less crowded than those resorts plagued by massive crowds.

Besides a perfect location, Fernie has a near perfect mountain mixed with high alpine open bowls, tree cut runs, huge vertical drops, and a wide range of terrain to delight all levels of skiers. The only downside to skiing Fernie and scoring as “near perfect” is a low base elevation that gets rain / snow mix, and awkward lift system.

If you’re looking for a more perfect version of Fernie, you may want to try some nearby CatSkiing at Island Lake Lodge

Island Lake Lodge CatSkiing is only 25 minutes from Fernie offering some of the best backcountry skiing on the planet

Accommodations are a bit limited but you can find some great ski-in / ski-out condos at or near the base. The town of Fernie is just about 10 minutes from the resort and also offers additional lodging and some of the great BC charm.
